綠色螺旋藻：加州索諾拉沙漠（塵歸塵）

I’ve been grinding my own watercolor paints for years, and this spirulina’s coarse texture and tiny flecks from the mortar-and-pestle process add a lovely, uneven depth to washes. The color itself is a rich, muted green that feels distinctly of the desert.

I was honestly surprised how much pigment I got from just a small amount—ground it myself with the mortar and pestle and the color is incredibly rich. It’s definitely not a fine powder, but that texture adds to the handmade feel.

The texture is the first thing you notice — real grit and bigger pieces from the mortar and pestle, not some finely milled powder. I ground it a bit finer myself and it still kept that desert depth. Genuinely one of the better pigments I've picked up this year.
